Welcome to the 2017 YA Scavenger Hunt!
You are currently hunting on TEAM GOLD.
Hello! I'm David Mellon, your host for this leg of the hunt.
Five things you should know about me:
- Before I started writing this book I was a painter. See paintings here. davidmellon.com
- When I wasn't painting, I drew storyboards for tv and film. See storyboards here. famousframes.com
- My debut novel, SILENT....has just come out!
- I did the illustrations for it. See some of them here!
- Somewhere amongst the Gold Team authors, you'll find my exclusive content - so keep hunting! (It might have something to do with those illustrations.)

Welcome to YASH! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes!
Scavenger Hunt DIRECTIONS: Collect the numbers of all the authors on TEAM GOLD, and add them up.
You’ll find my number somewhere below. As you might have guessed (being Team Gold) my number is...GOLD!
ENTRY FORM: Once you’ve added up the numbers from all 20 of the Gold Team authors, fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by Sunday, April 9th at noon Pacific time. On this hunt, not only will you find the secret number of each author, but you will also get access to exclusive content from each of the participating YA authors. Add up the numbers, and enter it for a chance to win a major prize–one lucky winner will receive at least one book from each author on my team in the hunt! But play fast. This contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online until noon PST on Sunday, April 9th!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.
There are FIVE contests going on simultaneously as well as a bonus contest and you can enter one or all!
I am a part of the GOLD TEAM, but there is also a RED TEAM, BLUE TEAM, PINK TEAM and a PURPLE TEAM!
(Though, clearly, they are not quite as fabulous as the Gold Team. I mean, we're GOLD!)
I'm just kidding, they're all really great.
(But, they're not Gold, are they?)
Check out each team for a chance to win five different sets of signed books! That's 100 books!
Now that all the technical stuff is out of the way, I’ll introduce the author I'm hosting on this hunt.
The amazing…Matthew Pillion!
(I just read the first 20 pages of The Indestructibles. Great super hero stuff! I'll definitely be putting this on my 'want to read' list in Goodreads.)
Matthew Phillion is a writer, actor, and film director based in Salem, Massachusetts. The Indestructibles (Book 4): Like a Comet is his fourth book, and his fifth, the spinoff titled Echo and the Sea, will premiere spring of 2017. An accomplished journalist and filmmaker, he is also involved in the upcoming Stories of Substance, a youth education program aimed at preventing opioid addiction.
The book Matthew is showcasing is The Indestructibles! Add to Goodreads!
ABOUT THE BOOK: A solar powered girl. A ballerina vigilante. A boy with an alien living inside his brain. A werewolf with confidence issues. A girl with a black hole for a heart. Five teenagers, each with their own unique abilities, are gathered by veteran hero Doc Silence to become their generation's super-team. But when they find out someone else is building their own monsters to change the world, will the Indestructibles be ready in time? Or will their inexperience be their downfall?
You can buy all of Matthew's books HERE!
And now...here is Matthew Phillion's YASH Bonus Content! The never-before-seen first chapter of his new book, Echo and the Sea. He expects it to be released in spring 2017.
(A little setup...)
Every superhero universe has an Atlantis, and the world of the Indestructibles is no exception. Echo and the Sea is set in the Indestructibles' universe (the "Indestructiverse," as some readers of the series have named it), and takes place right around the same time as Indestructibles: Book 1. It tells the story of Echo, who is ripped from her ordinary life working in an ice house and pulled into a battle for Atlantis itself--a place she's never been, a place she'd never believed in. She's now forced to decide if she should embrace her Atlantean heritage, or protect the surface world from the undersea kingdom. Joined by her best friend Yuri, a pirate magician named Barnabas, and the warrior Artem, the last son of the Amazons, she'll face down sea monsters and scheming Atlanteans and journey across the seven seas to figure out where she belongs, and the sort of hero she must become.
Are you ready to move on to the next link in the hunt?
Is that David Mellon's number?
That's it? 1?
Not a very auspicious number, is it?
(It is Gold though.)
